Joe is a passionate systems change strategist and ecosystem builder, who uses systems mapping to enable collective action.
He deferred his studies at Harvard in his twenties to spend a year soul-searching at a Buddhist monastery. Intrigued by systems thinking and complexity, he went on to pursue a PhD in system dynamics at MIT Sloan School of Management. Joe guides stakeholders through the process of system design, community building and blended finance for catalyzing large-scale systems change. He founded Omplexity, co-founded Academy for Systems Change, served as an advisor to Walton Family Foundation, World Economic Forum, and UNDP. Joe has participated in more than 60 systems change initiatives worldwide. Having witnessed many unintended consequences resulting from the fragmentation of granting and investments, Joe is on a mission to bring funders and change makers together to address humanity’s most pressing issues. He met Vincent in 2018, and the idea for SIMFO was born.
Vincent is a passionate angel impact investor and philanthropist, using business to create a goodness society.
He became a multimillionaire in his late twenties as Managing Director of Merrill Lynch’s Private Investment Banking Group covering the Greater China market. Following an early retirement from banking, Vincent co-founded several companies in various industries, supporting them from angel investment stage to IPO. He is an Archangel Investor in the Oxford Angels Network and holds an MBA from Oxford’s Saïd Business School. Vincent is on a mission to support social entrepreneurs to reach their highest potential. He works with them closely not only as an investor but a core business partner. He met Joe in 2018 and came to appreciate the need for systems thinking in order to achieve SDGs. They teamed up to create SIMFO, a systems-centric, crowd-based multi-family office and an ecosystems builder that integrates various stakeholders’ human, social, and financial capitals to regenerate people and the planet.
